Migrants Music Manifesto aims to promote the languages and cultures of migrants and refugees in Europe, through music.
During this project, the partners will create tools for cultural and intercultural mediators (artists, producers, broadcasters, mediators, librarians, teachers in formal and informal education, etc.), some of whose mission is to facilitate intercultural dialogue and the integration of migrants and refugees.
This project brings together :
- world and traditional music professionals,
- social organizations specializing in the integration of migrants,
- researchers and journalists.
Their knowledge of world music and tools for valorizing minority cultures prompted the partners to work on the development of tools for valorizing mother tongues, and hence their cultures, and thus combat the phenomena of glottophobia.
Over the next two years, the partners will produce a collection of educational "e-malettes" in 5 languages, to be distributed by the European ENCC network in the cultural and educational sectors.
To achieve this, they are conducting :
- international residencies involving musicians, singers (refugees) and a public from a migrant background. These residencies take place at Rocher de Palmer/FR, Abusuan Intercural Center/IT, Muziekpublique /BE Alba Kultur/ DE,
- data collection on musical heritage (nursery rhymes, song lyrics, films, TV5 monde broadcasts, journalistic knowledge and mondomix articles, interviews, commented playlists...) with journalists Patrick Labesse (Le Monde), François Bensignor (France Inter, Culture, RFI Musiques...),
- a mentoring cycle on tools for promoting the languages and skills of migrants and refugees (Edra/GR, Université de Strasbourg/FR, Fondation Ramon Llull/ES).
The project is being evaluated by ARI-EHESS.
