mAPs - Projets Artistiques en Migration - is a transdisciplinary cooperation between 5 European structures from France, Italy, Greece, Germany and Finland, part of a large international network.
mAPs will produce a collection of dance films: 4 short films and 1 feature-length documentary. For its first edition 2019-2022, mAPs will focus on the theme of POWER, broken down by country:
POWER & IDENTITY in France (short film),
POWER & DATA in Italy (short film),
POWER & MUTATION in Greece (short film),
POWER & ENVIRONMENT in Finland (short film),
The documentary film produced by Germany will deal with the theme from these different angles. This documentary film, which will be analytical, educational and marketing in nature, will also showcase mAPs' innovative methodology, combining the following elements in the film development process:
- a mentoring path of excellence for artists, based on mobility and capacity building, designed and coached by leading international professionals,
- initiatives to include ordinary and vulnerable populations (people with disabilities, migrants, people with social integration problems, etc.) living in the filming areas,
- a worldwide distribution strategy designed to :
> sell the film collection on the cinema and audiovisual markets,
> promote mAPs as a quality label, committed to an innovative, socially responsible artistic approach that is accessible to as many people as possible.
This branding strategy and the quality of community actions will lead to the development of a new, sustainable economic model and the creation of a European production company dedicated to societal dance cinema.
